While designed with children in mind, Dino Discs have also become a favorite for beginners, seniors, and players looking for effortless glide. They're not PDGA approved—but they’re also not trying to be. Dino Discs are made for casual rounds, school programs, and family outings where fun and ease-of-use matter most.

With a growing lineup of drivers, midranges, and putters in eye-catching colors and whimsical themes, Dino Discs offer a perfect introduction to disc golf for the next generation of players.

Dino Discs are designed specifically with young children in mind—especially those around age 10 and under. These discs are built to be ultra-lightweight, typically weighing between 110 and 130 grams, making them much easier for small hands and developing arms to throw effectively.

The reduced weight means Dino Discs can fly farther for kids who are just getting started in disc golf, helping them experience success and fun right away. It also makes them a safer option. Let’s be honest—kids aren’t always the most accurate or self-aware throwers. In the event that a Dino Disc accidentally hits a person, pet, or parked car, it’s far less likely to cause any damage compared to a standard-weight disc.

While Dino Discs are made with kids in mind, they’re also popular among other players who benefit from an ultra-light feel—new players, older seniors, and even some women have found that these discs provide extra distance and control with less effort. Dino Discs are created through a collaborative effort that involves multiple manufacturers. The primary discs are produced by Zing Mini Discs, using molds originally created by ABC Discs. These molds are well-established and PDGA approved—you'll even find the original ABC Disc names embossed on the bottom of the Dino Discs.

In addition to Zing and ABC, some Dino Discs have been manufactured by other local plastic producers over the years. For a time, even Gateway Disc Sports helped produce certain models in the Dino Discs lineup.

It's important to note that Dino Discs themselves are not PDGA approved, even though the molds they use are. That means if you throw a disc labeled as the ABC BeeLine, it's approved for sanctioned tournaments. But call that same disc a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and technically, it's not approved—even though it's the exact same mold and arguably much safer due to its lighter weight. The reason? Dino Discs simply chose not to pay the PDGA's approval fees, since their discs are designed for young children, not competitive players.

So while you won’t see Dino Discs at the next PDGA Major, they serve their true purpose perfectly: giving kids and beginners a fun, safe, and throwable disc golf experience.
