XCOM-Helios-Disc Golf Fairway Driver

I agree with everything the review below me says. It's the perfect flippy fairway driver for beginners. It's the Leopard of Xcom discs. For faster arms, there can be some use for long understable shots, but it definitely wouldn't be thrown as much. Give it to a new player and they'll find new distance and have some great fun.

I would not call this 2-disc set a good choice for brand new players. It is more of a 2-disc set for experienced disc golfers who want to try out a couple of inexpensive models from Legacy Discs. The Ghost is a really good mid-range, but is slightly overstable, meaning that is is built to fade at the end of flight and to handle aggressive throws. The Rampage is a maximum speed driver with a really wide rim, so it is meant to be thrown with a lot of force. It can slice through the air if you really get some power behind it, but it is by no means a beginner, easy-to-throw disc. If you want to add a couple of good, advanced discs to your arsenal, then it's a great choice.

This is an inexpensive disc that is made in a low weight and that is designed for beginner disc golfers, so I give it 4 stars for fulfilling it's designed purpose. I could hand this disc to a new player, or even to a child an they'd be able to throw it around with very little frustration. It does not require a powerful release, so it is just right for people who are learning the game. If you throw it with power, it will become a roller for you. So, I would say that for my own purposes, it is a bit too easy, but as a starter driver for new players, it is just right.

This driver, along with other XCom discs, tends to come in a lighter weight and in a base plastic to keep it inexpensive and appealing to new players. But compared to some of their other discs, I actually found the Zion to be more useful for my own game. I'm an experienced recreational player and found that the Zion was able to handle a more powerful throw than their other discs and still had a little fade at the end of flight. Thus I found that I could use it to shape my shots into S-curves and throw it at difference speeds for different flight paths. It is a surprisingly nice all-purpose driver. Of course, advanced players probably wouldn't be caught throwing around disc like this in soft plastic, but for the rest of us, it's not a bad disc for recreational rounds.
