Yikun Discs
About Yikun Discs
Yikun Discs was founded in Ningbo, China back in 2008 by a group of disc-sport enthusiasts who wanted to bring high-quality plastic to the Asian market. By 2010 they were cranking out disc golf molds and quickly became the first and only Asian manufacturer approved by both the PDGA and World Flying Disc Federation. They’ve been growing the sport in China ever since—hosting tournaments, designing courses, and building a surprisingly wide disc lineup.
What makes Yikun stand out? For starters, they’re one of the most affordable brands on the market, but the plastics and molds don’t feel “cheap.” They offer multiple lines, from the grippy Tiger Line, to the durable translucent Phoenix Line, the premium Dragon Line, and even their unique Tortoise overmold tech (think Twin Swords and Tomahawk). They’ve also introduced lightweight plastics like Swift and Soflex that float in water—perfect for beginners and water-hazard survivors alike.
Yikun also has a hand in the global disc scene beyond their own logo, as they manufacture for other brands (including some you’ve definitely heard of). Their in-house discs feature eye-catching stamps inspired by Chinese mythology, with names like Twin Swords, Jun, Gou, and Yao. Some players swear by them, others say they can be a little inconsistent—but for the price and the flair, they’re worth a spot in your bag if you like trying something different.
What Brands Does Yikun Manufacture?
Yikun isn’t just making discs under their own name—they’ve become one of the biggest contract manufacturers in disc golf. If you’ve thrown budget discs from other companies, chances are you’ve already had Yikun plastic in your hand.
Discmania Active Line – The entire Active series (Sensei, Maestro, etc.) is produced by Yikun, giving Discmania a low-cost line designed for beginners.
Viking Discs – Many of Viking’s molds come out of the Yikun factory, though branded with Viking’s Norse-themed stamps and names.
Neptune Discs – Another brand that relies on Yikun’s manufacturing to produce their lineup, often with a more “boutique” or niche flavor.
Kestrel Discs – Known for being an affordable entry-level brand, Kestrel has worked with Yikun for its discs as well.
Wild Discs – Several Wild Discs molds were produced by Yikun before their production shifted elsewhere.
Other Collaborations – Yikun has also quietly supported smaller startups and custom runs, helping new disc brands enter the market without having to own their own injection molding setup.
So while Yikun may not always be front and center with pro sponsorships or flashy marketing, they’ve got their fingerprints all over the disc golf world. Odds are, if you’ve bought a budget-friendly disc with a name you didn’t recognize, it just might have come from the Yikun factory.
Yikun Discs Plastics
Yikun has built out one of the most diverse plastic families in disc golf, ranging from budget-friendly to premium blends with unique looks. Here’s the breakdown:
Tiger Line – Baseline, super grippy, and affordable. Best for putters or testing out new molds without paying premium prices.
Phoenix Line – Clear, durable, and built to last. Comparable to Champion/Opto—ideal for drivers and mids that take a beating.
Dragon Line – Premium blend with a tacky feel and excellent glide. Think Star/Gold Line plastic with a Yikun twist.
Tortoise Line – Overmold technology, with a different plastic for the rim and plate. Used in molds like the Twin Swords and Tomahawk.
Swift Line – Lightweight blend designed for easier distance. Many of these float, making them perfect for water-heavy courses.
Soflex Line – Flexible and beginner-friendly. Soft enough to absorb ground hits and stick, but still solid for repeated use.
Glaze Line – A premium, shiny blend with a slicker finish. Comparable to glossy “halo” premium plastics from other brands.
Glaze X Line – Same quality as Glaze, but with different aesthetics and design patterns.
Nature Line – An eco-conscious option with recycled materials. More grippy and slightly chalky in feel, made for players who want a greener choice.
Inner Colour Line – Eye-catching discs with a two-tone color effect built into the flight plate. Same performance as their premium plastics, but with serious style points.
With this lineup, Yikun covers the entire spectrum—from cheap baseline to flashy premium blends. If you’re a plastic nerd (and let’s face it, most of us are), there’s a Yikun line that fits your hand and your budget.
